Why Abdulmutalab's Underwear Bomb Failed

About three years after the failed
attempt by a Nigerian, Umar
Farouk Abdulmutallab, to
detonate an explosive aboard a
Northwest Flight 253 in the
United States of America, facts
have emerged why the explosive
failed to go off.
Abdulmutallab, the son of one of
Nigeria’s most prominent
businessmen, has since been
sentenced to life imprisonment
without parole for his action.
However, the FBI has revealed
the reason why the explosives
failed to go off over Detroit as
planned on December 25th,
2009.
Two FBI agents, in a recent chat,
said Umar confessed that he had
worn the explosive underwear
for three weeks in order to get
used to it and make sure he
could get it through security.
“So basically for three weeks he
wore this garment, these
underwear with this device in it.
We think ultimately that is
probably what caused the
disruption in the sequence of
events in the explosion,” said FBI
agent Ted Peissig.
The FBI agents also revealed that
Umar was not recruited by al
Qaeda, until he almost forced
his way into the sect. “He sought
out al Qaeda relentlessly,”
another FBI agent on the case,
Mike Connelly said. “He persisted
and he was almost turned away
at times, you know, by al Qaeda.
But he refused to relent.”
It would be recalled that during
his trial Abdulmutallab had
described the bomb in his
underwear as a ‘blessed
weapon’ to avenge the poor
treatment of Muslims around the
world.

PHOTO: Kogi man chains his son to die in the forest

This little boy was found this morning
(29th Sept 2012) inside bush near a
river in Okpuno Awka crying by the
community security service during the
sanitation exercise. His legs were
bound in chains and locked with a
padlock. From investigation his father
whose photo also appeared below
known as Alhaji by his fellow Okada
riders
and hails from Igala community of kogi
state is the one chained his two legs
and left him in that bush for three days
now without food or water.
It's this same man that told his
neighbors that his son has been
missing since three days now and both
him and neighbors were searching for
him together without them knowing
that he knew where his son is. But luck
ran out on him today when the security
men from the community discovered
the boy crying in the bush. The little boy
happens to be the only child from his
former wife. Who is no longer living
with him.

JTF arrests more security operatives connected to Boko Haram

Nigerian authorities have arrested
a number of officials, accusing
them of carrying out attacks for an
Islamist militant group.
The military said they had captured
an immigration officer who
confessed to being an active member
of Boko Haram.
His confession led to the arrest of a
number of other officials.
Boko Haram has killed hundreds in
northern and central Nigeria since
2009, when it launched a campaign
to install an Islamic state.
The group's fighters have bombed
government buildings and churches
and assassinated Muslim clerics who
disagreed with their views.
Their attacks have killed woman and
children, Muslims and Christians.
Lt Colonel Sagir Musa said the
immigration official was arrested last
month while impersonating an army
officer.
"He confessed to being an active
member of the Boko Haram terrorist
sect," said Col Musa.
"He also confessed to having been
trained alongside 15 other members
of the sect on weapon handling,
assassination and special operations
in Niger."
Col Musa said his testimony helped
the military root out a number of
others who had carried out attacks
for Boko Haram.
Analysts have in the past said that the
fight against Boko Haram was
undermined because the Islamist
group had managed to infiltrate the
military.
Boko Haram shot to prominence in
2009 when hundreds of their
members attempted to storm police
stations and government buildings in
Maiduguri.
The security forces quelled the
rebellion and killed dozens of the
sect's members, as well as its leader.
Since then, their attacks have been
better organised and caused many
more civilian deaths.
Nigeria is roughly divided between a
largely Muslim north, and the south,
where Christianity and traditional
religions dominate.

State of denial: “Saudi Arabia never deported any Nigerian pilgrim” – Hajj commission changes position

Officials of the National Hajj Commission of
Nigeria (NAHCON) are trying hard to put a spin
on the deportation of some female Muslim
pilgrims from Saudi Arabia last week by the Saudi
Arabian government. They are now describing
the reports as untrue.
The new explanation from the Hajj commission is
that the sudden return of the female pilgrims was
at the instance of Nigerian government, which
wanted to rectify certain anomalies. Obviously,
this claim is hard to believe, considering that the
spokesman of the Hajj commission, Mallam Uba
Mana had said last week that they were “awaiting
a response from the King of Saudi Arabia so that
a discussion can be opened between the two
parties.”
Communicating the new position of the
commission in a press briefing in Abuja on
Saturday, the chairman of NAHCON, Mallam
Mohammed Musa Bello, said that the issue of a
male companion for female pilgrims to the
kingdom is a fundamental aspect of the hajj
exercise which Nigeria cannot afford to violate.
This also is a clear contradiction from the
commission’s earlier position which claimed that
there was an existing agreement between
Nigerian and Saudi Arabian authorities which
exempts female Nigerian pilgrims from that law.
Mallam Bello denied the news that the Federal
Government delegation to Saudi Arabia was
denied visa to the kingdom noting that the issue
of the departure of the delegation has to do with
the disparity in timing between the two countries.
He had good news for intending pilgrims;
disclosing that the suspended airlifting operation
of the pilgrims would resume as soon as all the
challenges that led to the problem are
addressed.  Already, eight states with 32 flight
schedules are on standby to commence
operation when the challenges are sorted out.
He promised that all the pilgrims would be
airlifted before the October 20 closing date of the
King Abdulazeez International Airport Jeddah
and Madinah airport.

Nigerians Now The 4th Biggest Spenders In The U.K

Simi Osomo flies to the UK from Nigeria six times
a year to spend £5,000 a time on Crunchy Nut
and clothes. Susannah Butter of the London
Evening Standard reports on the influx of
Nigerians to the UK and their phenomenal
spending prowess.
Every year, Simi Osomo makes six trips to
London from Nigeria. The 25-year-old spends
about two weeks here and every day she goes
shopping. Today she’s at the boutique shop
Matches Townhouse in Marylebone with a
personal shopper. “When it comes to shopping
and Nigerians, I can tell you it’s just what we
have to do,” she tells me while admiring the
patterned dresses.
For Nigerians, London is a shopping mecca.
Visitors from the West African country are the
UK’s fourth biggest foreign spenders, parting
with an average of £500 in each luxury shop
they visit — four times what UK shoppers
typically spend. When I ask Osomo how much
a two-week shopping trip in London costs she
makes a bashful face. “Ooh, should I really be
saying this? It depends, but most times about
£5,000.”
Osomo is wearing a green top from Zara that’s
“the colour of the Nigerian flag”, blue skinny
jeans and new Christian Louboutin shoes.
Later today she’s going to buy an iPhone 5 for
her sister.
“You can get lots of things in Lagos but they
are cheaper here and you get to take a holiday
and relax a bit. It’s only six hours away.” The
number of Nigerian visitors to the UK increased
by more than 50 per cent to 142,000 a year
between 1991 and 2011, according to the
Office for National Statistics. Nigeria is
projected to become Africa’s biggest economy
by next year and the world’s fifth most
populous country by 2050, and London is
cashing in.
Debenhams’ Oxford Street branch has put up
signs in Hausa, one of the official Nigerian
languages, and said customers from this part
of West Africa are its biggest overseas
spenders. Yet Osomo says it’s not just rich
Nigerians who come over. “Middle-class people
can afford to come and spend £600 on
shopping in a week here. What I like about the
UK is that it doesn’t discriminate. As long as
you’re able to prove you have an income,
accommodation in London and a return ticket,
the authorities are more than willing to give
you a visa. It’s closer than America and the
customer service here is phenomenal.”
Back home in Lagos, the technology market
has been flooded with fake products from
China, which means more people are coming
to London for electronic goods and are even
taking items back to sell. “No one wants to
spend more than 100,000 naira (£390) and
find out it is fake, so they prefer to come over
for a holiday and buy something they know is
real and has a guarantee in case something
goes wrong.”
Marks & Spencer is one of Osomo’s favourite
shops. “I love their fajitas. You can’t get them in
Nigeria. I also buy soy sauce and Thai green
curry paste, which is good because it lasts for
a long time. Oh, and Crunchy Nut cereal,
Skittles, Maltesers and tea. There’s nothing like
a British cuppa. I get Lipton, PG and green tea.”
She likes the variety of London. “I love Zara,
H&M, Topshop. But if I want something more
high end, there’s Sloane Street.”
More than £3 billion a year is spent on high-
end goods in London, according to the London
Luxury Quarter Report, and it predicts this will
rise to £4.5 billion by 2020, with new shops
including Burberry’s flagship fuelling the trend.
Luxury concierge services are also popular.
Osomo is a client of Quintessentially, which
organises shopping trips and parties for her
and has an office in Lagos.
Although summer is the height of the
shopping season, Osomo likes to come back
for the January sales too. Her mother, a lawyer,
and father, a businessman, often join her. She
has just finished a law degree and is about to
start a job in fashion journalism, which she
hopes will give her enough holidays for trips to
London. But flights can get booked up quickly.
“You don’t want to get the Lagos to London
flight in July. It’s packed with parents and their
kids making noise.” Return flights at high
season start at about £369.
But what about getting her haul of shopping
back from London to Lagos? That, says Osomo,
is costly. “All I pack when I come over is one
pair of jeans and three tops. I bring two big
suitcases but I always have to get another one
and pay for excess baggage. I never learn.”
British Airways has increased its excess
baggage charge on flights from London to
Lagos from £40 to £97 per suitcase in the past
year. “They must have realised we always put
an extra bag in and thought they’d try to make
money out of it,” says Osomo.
Fashion-wise, she still picks up the odd item in
Nigeria. Six months ago Zara opened an outlet
store in Lagos, and Mango has been there for
about a year. “Zara is affordable because it’s
an outlet but what I find is that things are a bit
last season. Nigeria’s hot all the time so there
are always maxi dresses and swimwear but the
colours are boring and we lack variety.
Customer service is not great and some shops
can get really crowded, which is challenging.”
There is a burgeoning online shopping
industry in Nigeria too. Currently, ASOS is the
only shop that ships to Lagos free of charge
and everyone Osomo’s age uses it.
“Nigeria is a fun place, I’d encourage people to
go. Shopping is evolving. In five years I think a
lot of stores will come to Nigeria because there
is a gap in the market. Ten years ago I never
thought Zara would come to Nigeria. I believe
in the next five years we will catch up. But I still
love London and won’t stop coming here.”

EFCC arrests man trying to smuggle out $7m

An attempt by a 24-year old man to
smuggle $7million (N1.2 billion) cash
out of the country was foiled on
Thursday by operatives of the
Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC).
The suspect, Abubakar Tijani Sheriff,
was apprehended at the Murtala
Muhammed International Airport,
Ikeja, as he made to board a plane to
Dubai.
The commission described him as a
courier on an errand for 20 Nigerians
in the UAE city and the cash is
believed to be for laundering.
It was learnt he named one of the
owners of the cash during
interrogation yesterday.
The Head of Media and Publicity of the
EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren,
confirming the arrest in a statement,
said: ”The 24-year-old was arrested at
the Murtala Mohammed International
Airport in Lagos en route Dubai,
United Arab Emirates. He was
apprehended by operatives of the
Commission at the point of boarding
the plane.
“When he was arrested, he declared
that he had a total sum of $4.5 million
on him. But a thorough screening
showed that he was actually carrying
$7,049,444 (seven million, forty-nine
thousand, four hundred and forty-
four United States dollars).
“He confessed that he was a courier
for 20 individuals who hired him to
courier the money for them to Dubai.
“Investigations by the EFCC showed
that Sheriff is a regular traveller and
one of several couriers of illegal cash
suspected to be proceeds of crime.
His claims in respect of his
accomplices are still being investigated
by the Commission.
“Travellers leaving the country are
statutorily required to declare cash in
excess of $10,000. However, it is not
sufficient to declare excess cash.
Under the provisions of the Money
Laundering Act, the onus is on the
person making the declaration to
explain the source of the excess cash
and the reason for the export.
“Experience has shown that bulk cash
smuggling, the world over, is usually
associated with proceeds of crime as
legitimately earned funds are usually
processed through the banking
system.
“Our experience in the last few years
indicates an emerging trend of bulk
cash smuggling to Europe, Middle
East and North America with the
attendant consequence for capital
flight.
“Some Nigerian citizens are routinely
arrested at airports in Europe and
North America for currency
smuggling, though no such arrests
have been recorded in the Middle
East. But in all cases, the money is lost
as they are never repatriated back to
the country.
“The Commission warns travellers
who for any reason want to move
bulk cash out of the country to do so
through the banking system.
Otherwise, they must be prepared to
declare it and explain the source of
the money.
“Meanwhile, the suspect is being
detained at the Commission’s holding
facility in Lagos, pending his
arraignment in court.”

Crazy: Man Set to Jump to Earth from Space on October 8

Come the eighth of October, 2012, the world
would be witnessing either of two things – the
setting of another world record in skydiving or…
something else that we do not want to talk
about. On that date, Felix Baumgartner, someone
who has been described simply as an Austrian
daredevil, plans to leap from nearly 23 miles
above the Earth.
According to space.com, “if all goes according to
plan, a helium-filled balloon will lift off from
Roswell, N.M., on Oct. 8 and carry Felix
Baumgartner’s custom-built capsule to an altitude
of 120,000 feet (36,576 meters). The daredevil will
then step out of the capsule into the void,
breaking a skydiving record that has stood for 52
years.” Before now, Baumgartner’s 2,900-pound
(1,315 kilograms) capsule was damaged in a hard
landing during a July 25 practice run from 97,146
feet (29,610 m), forcing a delay while repairs
were made. But on Monday (Sept. 24), officials
with Red Bull Stratos — the name of
Baumgartner’s mission — declared the capsule fit
for launch and set Oct. 8 as the target date for
the skydiver’s “space jump”.
The current record holder for the highest free
fall, for over 40 years now is Joe Kittinger. He
plunged into space from a high of 31km with
nothing but a primitive pressure suit and
parachute.
Talk about daring nature… One wonder how long
the free fall will take; what would Felix
Baumgartner spend that period of time doing?
Thinking? About what? Perhaps he should take a
book along!

Tragedy as Man shoots own son in 'burglary'

A US man mistakenly shot dead his
15-year-old son while investigating
what appeared to be an attempted
burglary next door, police say.
Jeffrey Giuliano, from New Fairfield in
Connecticut, opened fire on a
masked teenager outside his sister's
house.
Police later told him he had killed his
son Tyler. No charges have yet been
filed in the case.
"All in all it's a tragedy," said state
police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance,
quoted by the AP news agency.
According to police, the father was
called by his sister, who lives next
door, at around 01:00 (19:00 GMT)
when she heard someone outside
the house and believed they were
attempting to break in.
Mr Giuliano confronted a person
wearing a black ski mask and black
clothing, and fired his gun when the
person lunged at him with "a shiny
weapon".
The teenager was discovered by
police lying in the driveway with
gunshot injuries, his father sitting
nearby. Tyler was pronounced dead
at the scene.

Man RAP**D his daughter and planned to MARRY her

A 15-year-old girl in Egypt was
brutally raped by her stepfather after
her mother lost her battle with
cancer.
The girl got pregnant after being
repeatedly raped by the man who
had married her mother about two
years ago. Her mother died after
fighting for her life for about a year,
reports Al Youm Al Sabea’a
newspaper.
The girl was living with her stepfather
after her mother passed away as she
had nowhere else to go. One day, he
simply barged into her room and
rap**d her. He kept on raping her
and even promised to marry her.
However, the stalemate continued
and one day she went to consult a
doctor after she suffered terrible
stomach cramps. The doctor told her
that she was pregnant.
After hearing her story, the doctor
advised her to go to the police and
file a complaint.
The stepfather was arrested and the
girl was sent for a medical test.
The man first pleaded not guilty and
then told the police to release him as
he loved his step daughter and
planned to marry her.
The man has been charged for
s**xual abuse of a minor girl and
awaiting trial.

U.S. arrests man behind anti- Islam film

After weeks in hiding, the
American man behind the anti-
Islam film that sparked outrage
across the Muslim world,
Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, has
been smoked out and arrested
by authorities, American media
are reporting this morning.
Mr. Nakoula, 55, a Christian,
originally from Egypt, was
arrested Thursday for violating
terms of his probation,
authorities said.
He was taken into custody
Thursday, Time.com quoted U.S.
Attorney’s spokesman, Thomas
Mrozek, as saying.
Mr. Nakoula is scheduled to be
arraigned before a U.S. District
Court Thursday (Friday morning
in Nigeria) in a hearing that is
closed to the media and the
public.
The California man has been on
probation after he was convicted
for a 2010 federal check fraud
that earned him a 21-month
prison sentence.
Under the terms of his
probation, he was barred from
using computers or the Internet
for five years without clearance
from his probation officer.
But Mr. Nakoula broke the terms
of his probation by
masterminding the production
of “Innocence of Muslims” (a
blasphemous, anti-Islam film
which portrayed Islam and its
Prophet in bad light) and then
uploading a 14-minute trailer to
YouTube.
The film immediately sparked
protests across the world,
leading to the killing of the U.S.
Ambassador to Libya,
Christopher Stevens and three
other U.S officials in Libya.
The officials were killed when
armed protesters stormed the
American consulate in Benghazi,
shooting at the building and
throwing homemade bombs.
In Nigeria, Muslims protested
for days in Kaduna, Kano,
Katsina and other northern
cities.
The film was initially thought to
have been made by a certain
Sam Bacile, who also uploaded
the film to YouTube under that
name.
But the AP has since determined
that Bacile does not exist and
that that it was Mr. Nakoula,
who made the amateurish film.
He later acknowledged that he
was involved with the movie, but
claimed he only provided
logistics and management.
The protest that erupted on
September 11, two months after
the film was uploaded to
YouTube, led to the death of
about 13 people around the
world.
Apart from the four Americans
killed in Libya, reports say four
other people were killed outside
the United States embassy in
Sanaa, the capital of Yemen.
Tunisia recorded three fatalities;
while Sudan had two.
An attack on two American-
owned fast food joints in
Lebanon also left at least one
person dead, reports say.
Across the Middle East, security
forces battled protesters with
tears gas, stun grenade and
rubber bullets.
The killings in Tunisia came after
protesters breached the US
embassy compound in the
capital Tunis. The US embassy in
Khartoum, Sudan, also came
under intense attack leaving one
person dead. The UK and
German embassies were also
attacked in Tunis.

Davido acquires N140 million home in Lekki

Following in the footsteps of his billionaire father
who reportedly built a ‘mega church’ structure,
albeit in a different way, Davido has decided to
show that life is not about the blings, fast cars or
parties as he has reportedly acquired a property
worth about N140 million. Although it hasn’t
been confirmed if that is the exact amount he
paid to own the property but going by current
market value, the house should cost nothing
less!
The property which is in Lekki Phase1, is close to
where his father also has a house. The business
acquisition was concluded between yesterday
and today.
Omo Baba Olowo is spending the money wisely
or wha do you think? Congratulations to Davido!

Patience Jonathan battling Parkinson's disease? - Sahara Reporters

Nigeria’s First Lady,
Patience Jonathan, is
battling an onset of
Parkinson’s disease that
has complicated her
recovery from a surgical
procedure in Germany,
several reliable sources
have disclosed to
SaharaReporters.
SaharaReporters broke the
news that Mrs. Jonathan
was flown to a hospital in
Wiesbaden, Germany close
to a month ago to
undergo emergency
treatment after a botched
procedure in Dubai.
In interviews with three sources
familiar with Mrs. Jonathan’s
health status, SaharaReporters
learnt that the Nigerian
president’s wife is beset by
Parkinson’s disease, a
degenerative syndrome. The
disease is a progressive disorder
of the nervous system. A
medical source described it as
“a fairly common disorder that
occasions degeneration of the
nervous system.” The source
added that the disease leads to
“progressive impairment and
disorder of movement.” An
online medical site notes that
Parkinson’s “is characterized by
progressive loss of muscle
control, which leads to
trembling of the limbs and head
while at rest, stiffness, slowness,
and impaired balance. As
symptoms worsen, it may
become difficult to walk, talk,
and complete simple tasks.”
The bombshell revelation about
the First Lady’s medical woes
was first made by a source
familiar with Mrs. Jonathan’s
previous secret treatments in
Spain and Italy. The source
disclosed that Mrs. Jonathan had
battled Parkinson’s for some
years now. In addition, doctors
had advised her to “do
something urgent about her
morbid body mass index (BMI),”
said the source. She added that
Mrs. Jonathan had indeed
considered undergoing the kind
of tummy tuck procedure that
former Governor Diepreye
Alamieyeseigha once had.
Two other sources close to the
Jonathans confirmed that the
First Lady has been dogged by
Parkinson’s. One said the
disease was largely responsible
for her clumsiness, drawling
speech and slow movement at
public events. He added that
Mrs. Jonathan has been
suffering serious trembling in
the left hand. “That’s why she
always uses her right to hold the
microphone when speaking at
public events,” the source
revealed. Mrs. Jonathan also
reportedly is affected by stiffness
of the limbs and trunk which
affects her movement.
A news staffer at the Nigerian
Television Authority (NTA) told
SaharaReporters that Mrs.
Jonathan’s aides warned
reporters covering her never to
film her beyond her waist. “Her
senior personal assistant told
the crew covering her long ago:
‘Don’t ever film Madam’s waist.
Show her face only.’ That’s been
the code at NTA.”
Two of our sources stated that
Mrs. Jonathan had made efforts
to slow the disease that had
started to ravage her. “She has
been visiting a health farm in
Italy on a regular basis since
2010,” one source revealed. “To
alleviate her pain, she has been
taking her medication
religiously.”
A friend of Mrs. Jonathan’s said
that the First Lady’s health
maladies include anxiety,
occasional memory loss and
disorientation. In addition, her
blood pressure often rises to
dangerous levels, forcing her to
take a cocktail of anti-
hypertensive drugs.
Also, our sources said that some
officials attached to the First
Lady’s office described her as
constantly depressed, prone to
snapping at people at the
slightest provocation. “The First
Lady can just get angry at the
slightest provocation and rain
abuses at anybody in sight,” he
said.
As happened during the health
crisis of the late President
Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, the
Nigerian Presidency’s reaction to
Mrs. Jonathan’s health condition
is to be mum. When
SaharaReporters contacted a
senior aide of President
Jonathan on the matter of the
First Lady’s illness, he sharply
said, “I’m not saying anything.
And please don’t mention that
you spoke to me.”
SaharaReporters learnt that
officials of the Presidency are
under a virtual oath of secrecy
on the issue of Mrs. Jonathan’s
health crisis.

John Terry banned and fined by FA over Anton Ferdinand incident

Chelsea captain John Terry has been
banned for four matches and fined
£220,000 for racially abusing QPR
defender Anton Ferdinand.
The Football Association found Terry
guilty following a four-day hearing.
A statement from Terry's management
said he was "disappointed" the FA had
reached a "different conclusion" to the
"not guilty verdict of a court of law".
In July, the ex-England captain, 31, was
cleared by Westminster Magistrates'
Court of racially abusing Ferdinand.
The Terry statement continued: "He has
asked for the detailed written reasons
of the decision and will consider them
carefully before deciding whether to
lodge an appeal."
Terry will have 14 days from receiving
the written reasons to decide whether
to lodge an appeal. The ban and fine
will not come into effect until after the
centre-half has decided what to do.
A statement from his club added:
"Chelsea Football Club notes and
respects today's decision by the
Football Association regarding John
Terry.
"We also recognise that John has the
right to appeal that decision. It is
therefore inappropriate for us to
comment further on the matter at this
time."
The FA charged Terry in July with using
abusive and/or insulting words and/or
behaviour towards Ferdinand and
which included a reference to colour
and/or race contrary to FA Rule E3[2].
Terry admitted using the word "black"
and swearing at Ferdinand but insisted
he had only been repeating words he
thought the Rangers defender had
accused him of saying.

Update On Lagos Robbery: Members Of The Gang Arrested

Three armed robbery suspects -
Uche Okeagbu, Emmanuel
Ezeani and Chinonso Nwuangwu
- have been arrested by the
Special Anti-Robbery Squad,
Lagos Command, in connection
with the September 9, 2012
robberies in the state, which left
three policemen and a civilian
dead.
The suspects were arrested at
their Ajangbadi hideout on
September 23 following a tip-off.
The suspects were said to be
members of a much larger
group, which had about three
weeks ago, carried out
simultaneous robberies in
Gbagada, Agege, Anthony,
Ojodu, Itire, Ikeja and Ilasamaja
areas of the state.
It was learnt that after 23-year-
old Okeagbu was arrested, his
confession led to the recovery of
a large cache of ammunition,
one rocket propel grenade
launcher, 225 AK 47 magazines
fully-loaded, over 10,000 rounds
of AK 47 live ammunition, two
general purpose machine guns,
260 rounds of GPMG live
ammunition, five dynamite with
detonator and nine AK 47 rifles.
A self employed oil dealer before
his foray into armed robbery,
Okeagbu said: “I was an oil
dealer in Port Harcourt before a
friend introduced me to this
gang. I have been with them for
a while and during the time, I
went with them for four
operations in Ibadan where I got
N500,000 as my share. Another
was in Uyo where I got N800,
000. I also got N800, 000 for the
First Bank robbery at Share,
Kwara State and N100,000 for
the Lagos robbery. All these took
place this year.
“In all these operations, the
targets were banks which we
robbed successfully. I never went
with the group into the banks. I
always stayed back with the
driver in the car because I was
scared but I didn’t go with the
gang when they raided Lagos
three weeks ago.”
A SARS team led by Mr. Abba
Kyari, found the gang’s armoury
in two Volkswagen buses with
registration numbers LSD 467 AR
and AGL 506 XB, parked at
Okeagbu’s residence at
Ajangbadi.
Also, Nwuangwu said he took
part in four robbery operations
at Diamond Bank, Akure, in
Ondo State, UBA, Osogbo in
Osun State, GTB Okene, in Kogi
State and Skyebank, Auchi, in
Edo State.
The 23year-old said, “I was
merely the driver of the vehicles.
I just drove them to whereever
they had an operation...but I
have stopped going with them
for operations for a while now.”
The Commissioner of Police, Mr.
Umar Manko, said the suspects
were members of the gang that
terrorised Lagos about three
weeks ago.
“I would also like to say that
since the September 9 robbery
operations that the command
has not recorded any other
robbery incident. There have
been robbery attempts in several
parts of the state but these have
been quelled by the police.
“I encourage the public to
continue to come forward with
useful information of any
suspicious activity around them
because that was how we got
information on these suspects,”
the police boss said.

Photos: Crocodiles, Others Take Over The Streets Of Makurdi As Floods Persist

The situation in Makurdi, Benue state as well as
other states taken over by flood is assuming a
dangerous dimension. Not only are the floods
persisting, the damage to properties alarming,
lives lost tragic, epidermic looming but the
dangerous fact that predatory marine creatures
are on the prowl.
With houses submerged in the floods and the
risk of Crocodiles swimming into peoples’ homes,
the imminent dangers cannot be ignored as God
forbid one is swimming away to safety only to
encounter a Crocodile!
The relevant government agency in this case,
National Emergency Management Agency
(NEMA) and other inter-related agencies should
please redouble their efforts in evacuating
stranded Nigerians from these areas as a matter
of urgency.

Social Network Is Not My Thing” As Mikel Obi Denies Racial Slurs Prompted His Twitter Deletion

John Mikel Obi says he was riled by abuse on Twitter following his Champion’s League error on Wednesday [Sep 19], but denies it prompted him to quit the social networking site.

The Nigerian turned over possession with a loose pass, allowing Juventus to level scores at 2-2, and cost Chelsea a point. He immediately became the target of vile, even racist abuse on Twitter and deleted his @Mikel12Official account soon after.
But in an exclusive conversation with KickOffNigeria.com, Mikel made it clear it wasn’t about the abuse. “Not really. It wasn’t about that. I just closed it because I’m not really into it (Twitter). I really did not like being on it”, Mikel said.
“I have always wanted to stop ever since I started. I’m a very private person. Social network is not my thing; I’m not good at it.”
The Nigerian also admitted culpability for the goal, but says it’s time to move on…”We all make mistakes in life. I feel terrible about it, but it’s not good to dwell on it”.
“We have other games coming up and we have to learn from our mistakes focus on the coming games”.

Irresponsible Father Squanders N4 million Raised For Treatment Of Son’s Ailment Abroad

It just beats me how we can be so cruel not just to one another, but even ourselves. In June 2012, the story of Little Kelechi – the kid with a hole in the heart and paralysis of the left limb broke on social media. The poor lad needed about N4 million for emergency surgery in India and as is now typical with social media philanthropy and charity, a whole lot of people came to his aid and the required amount was raised.
However, news emanating from the handlers of the boy’s case is nothing to be happy about – leaves a very bitter-sour taste on the tongue. Since the money was raised through Kelechi’s father’s account, you would have expected some level of responsibility and prompt action to carry out the purpose for public appeal. But no! Baba Kelechi had other plans beside his son’s emergency treatment – He squandered every Naira raised to the last Kobo!
Curiously, Kelechi hasn’t been mysteriously healed or cured of his life threatening ailment as he is still battling with it. His father has been arrested and is presently cooling his heels at Ikoyi Prisons pending when he’s able to post his bail of N500,000. The Commissioner of Police Lagos state, Umar Abubakar Manko, signed the petition against him through the PPRO’s office.

Photo: (Un)believable! Woman Allegedly Gives Birth To A Pony In A Church

Worshippers at the World Liberation Ministry
located along old Sapele-Benin express road on
Tuesday took to their heels during a prophesy
programme when a female member gave birth
to a horse.
The horse was however dead by the time
Journalists visited the church. It was gathered
that the woman whose identity is not yet known
started screaming during the prayer session and
began to bleed from the v*g*na before the
horse came out.
The General Overseer of the church, Evangelist
Silva Wealth, said he was still amazed at what
came out of the woman. He told Journalists that
during prayers a revelation came that there was a
woman with an issue and that something was
blocking her womb. Silva said as prayers
intensified, the woman started screaming and
bled as the object came out of her.
The cleric said he couldn’t confirm whether the
horse was dead or alive because he didn’t go
near it.
“I can’t describe the object. We have seen people
that vomited several things during our service
but not this type of thing. God has been blessing
our ministry with prophesies and miracles”, he
said.
As soon as news of the mysterious delivery
filtered into town, people rushed to the church
to catch a glimpse of the horse.

Murray wins historic first major

Andy Murray ended Britain's 76-year
wait for a male Grand Slam singles
champion with an epic victory over
Novak Djokovic in the US Open final.
Murray, 25, finally emulated Fred Perry's
1936 achievement, winning 7-6 (12-10)
7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2 in four hours 54
minutes in the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Murray also reached the Wimbledon
final and won Olympic gold this
summer.
"When I realised I had won, I was a little
bit shocked, I was very relieved and I
was very emotional," said Murray.
Despite his other successes, this result
will arguably have a greater impact on
his career and the future of tennis in
the United Kingdom.
Murray - the new world number three -
lost his first four Grand Slam finals to
share an Open-era record with coach
Ivan Lendl, but like the Czech he has
triumphed at the fifth time of asking.
And while it is a dream of Murray's to
win Wimbledon, the British number one
has long been tipped to make his
breakthrough at Flushing Meadows in
the final major of the year.
He was the boys' singles champion
there in 2004, hard courts are his
favourite surface and he enjoys the
atmosphere in New York.
Murray is unlikely to ever forget the
atmosphere inside the world's biggest
tennis arena as he celebrated his
success, which arrived in his 28th
appearance at a Grand Slam
tournament.
A swirling wind made conditions
troublesome for both players, but it
was Murray who coped better in the
first two sets and eventually ended
Djokovic's title defence and 27-match
hard-court winning run at majors.
"They were incredibly tricky conditions,"
said the right-hander from Dunblane.
"Novak is so strong, he fights until the
end of every match and I don't know
how I managed to come through in the
end."
After early breaks were exchanged,
Murray struck again before moving 4-2
ahead following a game that included a
54-shot rally.
Djokovic rallied to force a tie-break, yet
his opponent showed greater belief
and took a sixth set point with 87
minutes on the clock.
Murray roared with delight and carried
his momentum into the second set,
breaking an out-of-sorts Djokovic twice
for a 4-0 lead.
A lapse in concentration allowed
Djokovic back in and when the Serbian
landed a majestic lob for 5-5, Murray
clutched his left thigh.
There were no signs of injury, though,
as Murray held to 15 and then forced a
flurry or errors from the world number
two, opening up a two-set lead for the
first time in a Grand Slam final.
The crowed urged Djokovic to respond
and he did - threatening in game one of
the third set before making his move in
game three.
Murray was now starting to berate
himself and voice his frustrations in the
direction of his player box, never more
so than when two backhand mistakes
saw chances squandered in game six.
He then fell a double-break down
thanks to an incredible backhand on to
the baseline from Djokovic, who easily
closed out the set.
Djokovic looked revitalised, Murray
weary, and the right-hander from
Belgrade swiftly found himself 2-0 up in
the fourth set.
Just when it seemed Murray might
respond, Djokovic was called for a time
violation and he angrily took his
performance to a new level.
When Murray's backhand broke down
again, Djokovic leapt with joy and it
seemed he could become the first man
since Pancho Gonzales in 1949 to rally
from two sets down to win the US
Open.
But Murray had other ideas and made
a devastating start to the decider,
breaking in game one and consolidating
it with some defensive play of the very
highest order.
The third seed was in dreamland when
Djokovic netted a forehand to hand
over the double-break, only for a
nervous Murray to immediately
surrender one of his strikes with a timid
backhand.
A love service hold put Murray back on
track and he advanced to within one
game of victory when Djokovic netted a
forehand.
Murray served out the championship
79 years to the day - on the same court
- that Perry won the first of eight major
singles crowns.
"I'm disappointed to lose, but I gave it
my all," said five-time major winner
Djokovic, a friend of Murray's and seven
days younger.
"I had a great opponent today. He
deserved to win this Grand Slam more
than anybody. I would like to
congratulate him."

Obama Comments On Nicki Minaj Rap

We all thought Nicki Minaj was anti-Obama. She
even got a couple of death threats due to a rap
verse that suggests that she was(“I’m a
Republican, voting for Mitt Romney, you lazy
b*tches is f*cking up the economy”) but as it
turns out, Nicki is actually an Obama supporter.
In a response to Nicki Minaj ’s rap verse, President
Obama told 95.3 in Orlando, Florida on monday
morning, “She likes to play different characters,
so I don’t know what’s going on there.”
Tweets from Nicki Minaj ’s TL confirms her
support for Barack Obama. Here are some of the
tweets.
“@NICKIMINAJ: Ha! Thank you for understanding
my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the
smart ones always do… *sends love & support*
@BarackObama”
“@BIGGEST_BARB: if thats not winning, idk WHAT
is. having the PRESIDENT tell bitches what your
verse means. wow.”
“@NICKIMINAJ: Awesome! Now I can tell my
grandchildren that the 1st black President of the
United States took the time to address a Nicki
Minaj question”
“@Melony_Minaj: Yass Likee… RT
@BeezWithOnika: Forget The Q&A For A
Sec..President Barack Obama Spoke About Onika
Tanya Maraj.”
We are obviously wrong about our judgment of
her rap. But Nicki seems content as those words
did what Nicki intended and she’s happy about it.

Female Student Shot To Death For Fighting Off Armed Robbers Who Tried To Rape Her

The escalating incidence of students shot dead by
dare devil men of the underworld is frightening
to say the least. And this is happening as
government is busy fighting Boko Haram on all
fronts while other evil vices seem to have taken
over- as armed robbers, cultists, rapists and
ritualists are having a field day unperturbed.
According to popular blogger Linda Ikeji,
classmates and friends of the slain student sent
the story to her. The student, Wunmi Adebayo,
was shot at point blank last night when she went
to visit a friend of hers in his house at Golden
Estate in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.
The 200 level student was visiting the said friend
when they were suddenly attacked by armed
robbers who robbed them of their possessions
and later shot Wunmi in the face because she
fought them off as they attempted to rape her.
Her corpse has been deposited at the mortuary.
Wunmi was the first child of her parents and
friends say she was very jovial, friendly and kind
hearted. Her candlelight procession will hold
tomorrow at skyfield in Lagos.
May her soul rest in peace.

“Stop chasing money by all means”, Pastor Adeboye Tells Nigerian Bankers, other Business Owners

The General Overseer
of the Redeemed
Christian Church of
God ( RCCG), Pastor
Enoch, Adejare
Adeboye, on Sunday
advised employers of
labour to shun
ungodly practices in
their quest for making
profit. The cleric made
this known during a
special prayer session
for the nation organized by the RCCG National
Headquarters, Ebute Metta, Lagos.
He assured workers that their dreams would not
die if they obeyed God’s words, advising them
not to collude with their bosses to get money
through sharp practices.
In his words, “I am surprise with the way
employers, especially in the banking sector, use
whatever means to bring in money to their
companies… God will always arrange for people
that will help you fulfil your dream and that is
why under no circumstance should you offend
God… That is why those that are wise honour
God, because he will be the one to take you to
your dreams.”
So, bankers, bank managers and bank owners,
stop giving your staff headaches over money.
This message is particularly timely as there were
recent reports about bankers who slumped and
died as a result of the pressure over targets they
had to meet. And lest we forget, the cleric should
also help us plead with our politicians and so
called government officials too.

A Must Read for all Ladies – I Married Him For Money, But After Marriage Everything Stopped

My name is Ayo. I am in my late 20’s. I have been
married for 3 years. Okay let me start over again,
I am writing this story because I want girls to
read and learn from my experience.
I dated Alhaji for a while, not minding the fact
that he has three wives. I was only interested in
getting married, and it didn’t really matter who,
as long as he had money , and I could be tagged
a Lagos big girl. I eventually got married to alhaji,
and he promised to buy me a house, car, and
startup a business for me.
I got pregnant almost immediately and moved to
one of his houses.
I thought alhaji would buy me a car immediately
since I was carrying his baby but he always asked
his driver to take me wherever I wanted. Is
excuse was that he did not want me to drive
around because of my condition.
I later mentioned it to him and he told me he
was going to get it once I had my baby.
Three months after my baby was born, I raised
the issue of starting my business and getting my
car again, and he just waved it up.
After six months I couldn’t take it again because
alhaji started giving me just 25k monthly for
upkeep and I had to do something. So I called
one of my ex-aristos and told him my
predicament. He was kind enough to give me
500k I added 200k I had to it and started my
business.
Alhaji asked me where I got the money from I
told him it was my savings. After a while he gave
me a 2-door golf car, and I was disappointed
because his wives drives jeeps but alhaji would
not hear of it, he said that’s what he had for me
so I took it.
When the shame became too much I started
sleeping with aristos again secretly and I am
living better now. I went to my family to tell them
I want tot leave alhaji, but they disagreed
because they all opposed my marriage at first
and they all insist I must continue.
I am already making plans I have to leave alhaji
next year I can’t continue to suffer. I don’t care
what you guys think or say about me, I just want
ladies like me to read and learn from it that “All
that glitters is not gold”.
I married him for MONEY but after marriage
everything stopped. He became a new man. 3
years of marriage and nothing to show for it.

Footballer “Tortured And Killed Model Who Had His Love Child And Fed Her Body Parts To His Dogs”

Are football players the new “Jack The Ripper?”
Just some few days ago, we read the news of a
‘promising’ Stoke City academy player, Andrew
Hall,18, who butchered his younger lover to
death in June of 2012, now this.
According to Daily Mail, A star footballer is to go
on trial accused of torturing and killing his
mistress, then feeding her dismembered body
parts to his pet dogs.
Married Bruno Fernandes de Souza, 27, a
goalkeeper once tipped to play for Brazil, is
alleged to have turned model Eliza Samudio ‘into
a human sacrifice’ to preserve his reputation
after she gave birth to his love child.
He is already serving a four-and-a-half-year
prison sentence after being convicted of
assaulting and abducting Ms Samudio, 25, but
will be tried for her murder later this year.
Prosecutors allege that Bruno planned Ms
Samudio’s kidnap and murder with eight others,
including his wife Dayane, a teenage cousin and
former detective Luiz Santos, all of whom have
been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder
and kidnapping.
The goalkeeper, who played for Brazilian club
Flamengo, is said to have watched as Santos
committed ‘barbaric tortures’ on Ms Samudio
before helping the former detective dismember
her body.
Parts of the woman’s body are alleged to have
been fed to Bruno’s dogs while the rest was
buried in concrete.
Bruno is accused of ordering his wife to tell
people that his love child, who was four months
old at the time of the killing, had been adopted
by them from a poor relative.

Mother of Quadruplets shave numbers in their hair to help tell them apart

Imagine you had four kids and they
all looked the same.
Now imagine how mortifying it
would be if you couldn't tell them
apart.
A mother of quadruplets has been
faced with that very scenario, and
she's come up with a hair-raising
solution that's proven incredibly
effective.
According to Chinese news website
NOW News, Tan Chaoyun from
Shenzhen, China, has shaved
numbers into the heads of her 6-
year-old sons to help teachers
differentiate them.
Tan said that when she had
registered her kids for elementary
school, the boys' future teachers had
worriedly informed her that they
would likely have difficulty telling
them apart.
So in an attempt to avert potential
mayhem, Tan decided that the boys
-- who are reportedly identical save
for differences in the shape of their
eyelids -- needed to be adorned with
a more distinguishing trait that
would set them apart from each
other.

Really Graphic Image: Woman Shoots Dead Her Rapist, and then Beheads Him!

Turkish woman,
Nevin Yildirim, a
26-year-old
mother of two
who lives in a
small village in
southwestern
Turkey is now
awaiting trial after
beheading a man
who she says
raped her repeatedly for months and is the
father of her unborn child.
Nevin said the man, Nurettin Gider, began the
attacks a few days after her husband left in
January for a seasonal job in another town,
according to a source close to the case. She said
Gider threatened her with a gun and said he
would kill her children, ages 2 and 6, if she made
any noise, according to the source. That was the
first of repeated rapes over the next eight
months.
Gider was said to have sneaked into her house at
a point while she was asleep and took pictures of
her. One of the pictures shows her pregnant
body. Gider threatened to publish the pictures if
she didn’t obey him, the source said. However,
on August 28, when she was at least five months
pregnant by a man who she said continued to
rape her, Yildirim said she decided she had had
enough. Gider was climbing up the back wall of
her house. “I knew he was going to rape me
again,” she said at her preliminary hearing
August 30.
She said she grabbed her father-in-law’s rifle that
was hanging on the wall and she shot him. He
tried to draw his gun and she fired again. “I
chased him,” she said. “He fell on the ground. He
started cussing. I shot his sexual organ this time.
He became quiet. I knew he was dead. I then cut
his head off.”
According to witness account, Nevin Yildirim
walked into the village square, carrying the man’s
head by his hair, blood dripping on the ground.
“Don’t talk behind my back, don’t play with my
honor,” Yildirim said to the men sitting in the
coffee house on the square. “Here is the head of
the man who played with my honor.”

American Church Brands Members With ’666′ Tattoos

Members of Growing in Grace , a controversial
religious sect headquartered in Doral, said they
were following the example of their leader, Jose
Luis De Jesus Miranda, who has claimed to
be Jesus and recently declared himself
the Antichrist .
Critics have called De Jesus a cult leader who
manipulates followers. Church members say he
has brought them happiness and spiritual
fulfillment.
“This is backing up what I truly believe,” said
Alvaro Albarracin, 38, who heads a film
production company and joined the church
more than a decade ago. He showed a bandage
that covered the freshly tattooed “666″ on his
forearm. “It’s like a brand. It’s like a sign.”
It’s a sign most Christians would shun, because
for centuries the numbers have been associated
with Satan. But for the 30 or so church members
who branded themselves with 666 and SSS —
the initials of De Jesus’ motto, “salvo siempre
salvo,” or “saved always saved” — it’s a mark of
their absolute faith in De Jesus.
Church members say the symbol doesn’t
connect them to Satan but rather to De Jesus’
claim that he has replaced Christ’s teachings with
a new gospel.
Scholars and critics of the movement say the
tattoos offer frightening evidence of the influence
De Jesus commands over his followers.
“What is he going to do next to call attention to
himself?” asked Daniel Alvarez, an instructor in
the department of religious studies at Florida
International University who has studied the
movement. “This means that his control over
people is so great that no matter what he says to
them, they’ll follow him.”
De Jesus was was not available to comment, said
a church spokeswoman.
At the tattoo parlor, one woman wore a T-shirt
with De Jesus’ picture and the phrase “The Lord
Arrived” in Spanish. Others wore shirts and
baseball caps marked with 666. Spanish rap
music blared from a stereo in the back.
News cameras circled the tattoo chair as artist
Jessica Segatto, wearing pink rubber gloves and a
huge silver cross, carefully inked 666 on church
members’ ankles, forearms, backs and one
member’s neck. Some members said they
decided to attend the tattooing session — which
was prompted by a church announcement the
previous week — to prove their commitment to
De Jesus’ vision. Others said they hoped the
symbol would provoke questions about the
movement.
“I figured if I have it on my leg, people are going
to notice it, 666, and they’re going to ask,” said
church member and spokeswoman Axel Poessy.
De Jesus — who preaches that sin and the devil
were destroyed when Jesus died on the cross
and that God’s chosen already have been saved
— has built a massive movement around his
claim to divinity. Followers call him “Daddy” and
“God” and lavish him with $5,000 Rolexes and
sometimes 40 percent or more of their salaries.
Christian leaders have denounced De Jesus,
saying he distorts the Bible. The Rev. Julio Perez
of Nueva Esperanza, a faith-based community
group in Hialeah, said De Jesus was promoting
himself rather than helping members of his
church. “What he’s doing is trying to create his
own sect,” he said.
De Jesus had just a few hundred followers when
he launched his church in a Hialeah warehouse
about 20 years ago. Today, he commands a
global movement from his Doral headquarters
that boasts 335 education centers, 200 pastors,
287 radio programs and a 24-hour Spanish-
language TV network that’s available to 2 million
homes — including by special request from
some U.S. cable companies. Only De Jesus and
his right hand man, Carlos Cestero, are
authorized to preach.
In his sermons, De Jesus emphasizes wealth and
success as a sign of God’s favor. Many of his
members are business owners who give a
percentage of their corporate profits to De Jesus,
said Alvaro Albarracin, who oversees corporate
donations to the church and holds the title
“entrepreneur of entrepreneurs.” Albarracin, who
runs the film production company MiamiLa
Entertainment, said he gave 20 percent of his
profit to the movement when he sold his Web-
hosting company, Dialtone, for more than $16
million in 2001.
Martita Roca, 25, a South Florida singer and
actress from Guatemala, said she sometimes
gives 40 percent of her salary to Growing in
Grace. Giving a piece of her flesh by getting a
tattoo was another way to prove her
commitment, she said.
“For all of those people who pray for us to come
out of this movement, this shows that this is it,
there’s no going back,” Roca said of her tattoos.
“This is to make sure that everyone relates me to
that vision.”
Luz Fuentes, 51, a former Catholic who joined
Growing in Grace in 1990, said she and her
brother give Growing in Grace up to 50 percent of
profits from their Hallandale mortgage company,
Apos Mortgage. “Apos” is short for “apostle,”
one of De Jesus’ monikers. De Jesus is listed on
the company’s website as its CEO.
“Antichrist” is the latest in a string of titles De
Jesus has bestowed on himself.
In 1988, De Jesus announced he was the
reincarnation of the Apostle Paul. In 1999, he
dubbed himself “the Other,” a spiritual
superbeing who would pave the way for Christ’s
second coming. In 2004, he proclaimed himself
to be Jesus Christ. That claim caused some
prominent members to defect from the
movement — including De Jesus’ first wife, Nydia,
and his son Jose Luis Jr., who started his own
church in Puerto Rico.
In January, during a packed worship service at
the church, De Jesus took off his coat and
revealed the numbers 666 on his forearm.
“This is a congregation of Antichrists,” De Jesus
said, drawing whistles and cheers.
The number 666 appears in the Book of
Revelation, a portion of the New Testament that
details the prophet John’s apocalyptic vision of
the rise of the Antichrist, the tribulation and
Christ’s return. In Revelation, a horned beast
appears on earth and requires everyone to get
his mark — 666 — on the right hand or
forehead.
Experts on new religious movements say De
Jesus’ opposition to other religions, and his claim
to be the only legitimate spiritual authority,
resemble the teachings of some cults.
“It’s clearly a personality-driven group,” said Rick
Ross, an anti-cult consultant based in New Jersey.
“It is defined by the claims of De Jesus Miranda.”
Nick Woodbury, director of the evangelical group
Christ for Miami, said most mainstream
Christians would reject Growing in Grace’s
teachings as unbiblical.
“In the Christian evangelical sector, we would
consider them a sect,” said Woodbury, who has
served as a missionary in Colombia with the
Mimai-based group Latin America Mission. “They
take the Bible, but their interpretation is very
warped.”
De Jesus’ followers have lashed out against
organized Christianity because they believe their
prophet holds the true gospel, they say. His
adherents have disrupted Catholic processions
on Good Friday and protested outside an
evangelical church gathering in Miami’s Tropical
Park. Last July, they tore up literature published
by the Jehovah’s Witnesses and other Christian
movements during a march in downtown Miami.
Scholars who are concerned about the
movement’s growth say they hope De Jesus’
latest claim will insert doubt into the mind of
some members.
“The symbol of the Antichrist is so negative, the
only good thing that will come out of this is that
people will say, ‘Hold on, this man is going off
the deep end,”‘ FIU’s Alvarez said.

We performed major surgery for ruptured appendix on Mrs. Jonathan -Horst Schmidt Klinik

A
spokesperson
for
the
Horst
Schmidt
Klinik
in
Wiesbaden,
Germany
has
told
us
that the First Lady, Dame Patience
Jonathan was in a bad state of health
when she arrived at the hospital last
week.
The hospital’s official, who confirmed
that initial records showed that Mrs.
Patience Jonathan had earlier been
treated for food poisoning in Nigeria
before being brought to the Horst
Schmidt Klinik, however, said she was
responding to treatment after she had
undergone a major surgery for a
ruptured appendix to remove the
poisons in her intestine.
During an eight-minute telephone
chat yesterday through telephone
number +49611433436, a senior
consultant of the hospital who spoke
on condition of anonymity, said Mrs.
Jonathan was brought to the hospital
early last week after the management
of the hospital had been contacted
and briefed on the deteriorating
health condition of the first lady.
She said that Mrs. Jonathan was
getting better but added that the
hospital management would ensure
that she was fully fit before she would
be allowed to go back to Nigeria.
When we demanded further details,
the hospital official said it was
improper and unethical for her to
make such details available to a third
party, ending the call and refusing to
pick up subsequent calls.
A reliable source in Aso Rock told us
that the decision to take the First Lady
to Germany for better treatment was
borne out of the fact that her medical
aides in Nigeria complained that they
could not get accurate diagnosis as a
result of insufficient medical facilities
in the country.
Twelve days after she left the country,
her Media Assistant, Ayo Osinlu,
yesterday said there is no definite date
yet for her return.
In a telephone conversation
yesterday, Osinlu insisted that Mrs
Jonathan is on a foreign trip to take a
well deserved rest. "I can tell you
authoritatively that the First Lady was
not lifted by any air ambulance to
anywhere, all those things are lies.
"Nobody is going to put a gun on my
head and force me to talk when I
have no fresh information," he said.
Asked when the First Lady will return,
he retorted: "I don't know. I don't
have any information on that. You
don't expect me to call her and ask
her when are you returning, is she my
mate? Ours is to ensure everything is
in order to receive her once her
return is made known to us. I do not
have fresh information on that".
Osinlu had on Sunday laboured hard
to justify Mrs Jonathan's sudden
disappearance from the public.
“If you look at her itinerary in August,
you will be wondering how she was
able to accomplish that,” he told a
national daily.

Man on trial for failed suicide attempt

A 36-year-old man,
Ekanem Aniefiok, was on
Tuesday arraigned before
the Karu Magistrates' Court
for alleged attempt to
commit suicide.
The police Prosecutor,
Umar Mohammed, told
the court that Aniefiok, of
the Federal Housing
Authority Estate, Karu,
Abuja, committed the
offence on September 4 at
10am.
He said the offence was contrary
to section 75 of the penal code
law.
According to him, the police was
alerted by one Idika Uzoma, of
the same address, that the
accused had attempted suicide.
The prosecutor said Uzoma had
discovered Aniefiok hanging in
his room while his 20-month
old daughter was holding a part
of the rope that went through
the ceiling.
Mohammed said that the
accused was unconscious while
the baby was crying, and that
Uzoma raised alarm which
attracted neighbours who
rescued him.
The prosecution said that
Aniefiok had confessed to
committing the offence because
he lost his job and that his wife
had abandoned him.
Magistrate Celestine Odo said
the court had no jurisdiction to
try the accused and advised the
prosecutor to refer the case to
the appropriate court of
competent jurisdiction.
