Cook docked for stealing kitchen utensils

A 39-year-old cook, Michael Bassey, has appeared before an Ogudu Chief Magistrates’ Court on a one-count charge of stealing kitchen utensils worth N450, 000 belonging to his boss.
The accused of Alafia Street, Shasha Akowonjo, Lagos, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Prosecutor Kemi Adeniran told the court on Friday that the accused committed the offence on 6 June at Ogudu, Lagos.
“The complainant, Ferdinand Achom, left his house on that fateful day but on getting back home, he discovered that all his expensive kitchen utensils had been stolen.
“Also the accused went to his master’s room, stole some expensive shirts and took to his heels. He was later arrested by the agency that brought him to the house as a cook,’’ the prosecutor said.
She said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Yetunde Aje-Afunwa, granted the bail to the accused in the sum of N10, 000 with a surety in the like sum.
She adjourned the case to July 9 for mention
