A Must Read: Confessions of an ex-cultist... -- I sacrificed a baby and my Manhood for money making rituals

Before I joined the church of Satan, I sacrificed a baby, to become a member, I drank blood and so many other things, which I shouldn’t have done. I also sold myself to the devil for fifty years.” This confession summed up the story of a
29 year old Ghanaian businessman who in his quest to be rich joined four occult groups where he committed the worst of abominations.

At 21, Steven Kofi  (not real name) from West coast in Ghana, began his journey into the occult world by joining the church of satan international before going deeper to join others such as the score and bone cult, region of doom and free mercy debunked all in his bid to make wealth. A once vibrant man with a wife and a child along with a prospering oil business had to abdicate his matrimonial responsibility to his wife for eight years after sacrificing his manhood as a condition for wealth . Faced with the threat of death after being given a 49 day ultimatum to live, the Ghanaian ran after God and recently got a relief in Lagos during the Lord’s Chosen Church programme, “Time to Recover all” where Saturday Sun had an encounter with him.

How did he join such groups at an early stage in life? “The story started in my final year at the university of Ghana, I was studying oil and gas engineering, I got my master degree in oil and gas engineering.  At the final year, things were so tough for me that I needed to finish my education, but there was no way to get financial help, at the end of the day I consulted my parents but it was fruitless”, he stated.

According to him,“usually I chat with somebody on the internet that helps me with money. He is a man and that was before I later got married to a Norwegian lady in 2003. We had a kid before she travelled, but she usually call me on phone once in while, at that time, I called her for financial help but she didn’t have any cash.”  He said the person who used to assist him complained that he could not continue sending money to him, and as such, he has to fend for himself. “He told me that he cannot continue sending me, money, money. He said I  have to work for myself, and I asked him, how, he said you have to do it on your own”, he stated adding that from that point he decided to locate the church of satan in Ghana where he was told that his initiation would be done in far away Califonia, USA. In deed, travel documents were prepared for him and he travelled  to ground Lodge at Early Noise in Califonia where his initiation took place.  He said after the initiation process, he demanded to see the devil, and was asked to write a request letter to the devil which he did. His request was granted within two weeks, and he was able to meet face to face with the devil who asked him to make three wishes, adding that his third wish for long life could not be granted because church members only live within the space of thirty years after joining the church of Satan. “The devil demanded that I make three wishes from him, which I consented to, that I want to be famous, wealthy and live long, but the third one he refused to grant disagreeing to the idea, that any one that joins the church of Satan will always live for thirty years, once you join at 20, you live till 50. This I agreed to because I was eager for money”, Kofi stressed.

He further disclosed that after joining the church of Satan, Satanic Bible  was made available to him, sword of slaughter, initiation glove, Suit and other items. He however explained that he didn’t lose his manhood until he added another feather to his cap in the occult world by joining yet another group. “When I joined the Score and bone society, that’s when I sacrificed my manhood to increase my wealth”, he added.
Beside the monetary gains from the cults, he was also sent on an assignment which is to win souls for the kingdom of Satan.  Through this, he has won more than 23 souls for Satan, using the advantage of the wealth he was given. “Boys and girls who are eager for money, wealth, I show them the way. I have offices in Port-Harcourt, Warri, Abuja, Ghana, I give them what to do and they begin to make money on their own and also teach them how to join and I send them over”, he added.

How did this bring joy to his parents? Kofi said after making money, he decided to open a plaza for his mother in Ghana, but she rejected the offer, claiming that it was a blood money, because of her attachment to Christ and a vision she saw in which she saw the source of his wealth. But father and his siblings accepted him. His trouble however started after he became uncomfortable with his life. At that point, he began to look for powerful pastors that could save his life. When his cults discovered he was going astray, he was penalized and given 49 days to die.
“I was given 49 days to live, I have spent 19 days, and it remains 30 days, before deliverance came to me through Pastor Mouka of the Lord’s Chosen”, he stated.

Having learnt some bitter lessons, Kofi wants youths not covet what others have while urging parents to restrict what their children watch on television screens.
On his manhood that was restored during the deliverance session, Kofi said  “I give God all the glory that my manhood was restored back, am happy now that I can make more babies again.”

People who walk a lot have lower diabetes risk – study

Among people at high risk of diabetes are people who get very little exercise, according to U.S study.
The study also showed that those who manage to walk more throughout the day are less likely to actually develop the blood sugar disorder.
Earlier studies have shown that walking more is tied to a lower risk of diabetes, but few studies have looked into precise measures of how many steps people take each
day, said Amanda Fretts, lead author of the study and a researcher at the University of Washington in Seattle.
“Our finding wasn’t surprising given that other studies have shown that even light activity is associated with a lower risk of diabetes,”Fretts wrote in an email to Reuters Health.
To get a better sense of the potential benefits of walking, Fretts and her colleagues asked more than 1,800 people to wear a pedometer for a week to tally the number of steps they typically took each day.
All of them came from native American communities in Arizona, Oklahoma and North and South Dakota that are known to have low physical activity levels and high rates of diabetes.
About a quarter of the group were considered to have very low activity, taking fewer than 3,500 steps a day, while half took fewer than 7,800 steps a day.
One mile is around 2,000 steps and daily walking recommendations typically point to a minimum of 10,000 steps a day.
At the beginning of the study, none of the participants had diabetes.
But after five years of follow-up, 243 people had the condition.
About 17 per cent of the people in the lowest activity group developed diabetes, compared to 12 per cent of the people who took more than 3,500 steps a day.
After taking into account people’s age, whether they smoked and other diabetes risk factors, Fretts’s team determined that people who walked the most were 29 per cent less likely to develop diabetes than those who walked the least.
The findings don’t prove that walking more is responsible for the lower diabetes risk, but Fretts offered some possible explanations for how walking might help.
“Increased physical activity may prevent weight gain and promote weight loss, a major determinant of diabetes risk,”she said.
Physical activity also has effects on inflammation, glucose and other molecules in the body that could help lower diabetes risk.
But she added that the potential benefits of moderate levels of walking are “only for those who are really inactive to begin with.”

2 Members Of A Royal Family Arrested For Armed Robbery

Two members of one of the ruling royal families in Ogun State said to be dangerous armed robbers met their waterloo on Sunday when men of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, in Ogun State intercepted them with a blood-stained jeep that was robbed in Lagos.

Nemesis caught up with the duo, identified as Ademola Adeniyi and Ajayi Adesina, after they were said to have offered the sum of N500,000 to the customs officers to evade arrest shortly after a robbery operation at 5am. Their attempts were however rebuffed by the men of the Customs who insisted that they must face the music.

The Comptroller of Customs in the state, Akande Bamidele who paraded the suspects before handing them over to police said Adesina was initially arrested with Acura MDX Jeep with no number plate and later his colleague in crime, Ademola, was also nabbed with one Passat marked, Abuja KWL 560 AA, in Ewekoro, Ogun State.

Addressing newsmen shortly before the display of 406 cartons of frozen poultry products worth three million naira, the comptroller said Ajayi was initially arrested with the blood-stained Acura and he later called his alleged ring leader, Ademola on phone to rescue him.

The Customs boss further disclosed that the second suspect, Ademola later arrived the scene and offered the custom officers bribe to release Adesina. According to him, the suspects who were later handed over to the police in the state made confessional statements confirming that they rob at gun point at Bariga in Lagos that Sunday.

While receiving the suspects on behalf of the police state command, the Head of Ogun Police Command state Criminal Investigations Department, Mr. Fola Ogunkoya promised to investigate the case and subsequently charge them to court.

Anti-Jonathan Sermon: SIB Summons Pastor Bakare

The State Intelligence Bureau, SIB, of the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Police Command, has summoned the Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, for a chat with the state Commissioner of Police, Umaru Manko.
Tunde Bakare
The invitation signed by the officer in charge of the bureau, CSP Usman Ayuba, was dated Tuesday, 26 June, 2012, and the pastor was expected to report on Thursday, 28  June.
Although SIB did not disclose why Bakare was summoned, the invitation may not be unconnected with a recent sermon Pastor Bakare preached concerning President Goodluck Jonathan, the oil moguls and the scandal surrounding the alleged N93 million bribe Zenon Oil boss, Femi Otedola gave Farouk Lawan.
During the sermon which was preached on Sunday, 17 June, Bakare said: “President Jonathan is dancing to the drumbeat of destiny. His destiny is to bankrupt Nigeria. He has the full support of corporate cowboys and oil vultures. It is clear that Nigeria is a nation under divine judgement. We need a cleansing in this land and if we do not stand up now to do what we ought to do, there may not be 2015 for Nigerians.”
Bakare, who is also the Convener of Save Nigeria Group, held a press conference same day where he repeated what he said during the sermon and added that Otedola and Lawan, the suspended Chairman, House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy, management, are both culpable in the bribery scandal rocking the House.
P.M.NEWS could not reach Pastor Bakare at press time to react to the invitation as he was said to have travelled to Ukraine.
However,  speaking on behalf of the pastor this morning, Yinka Odumakin confirmed the  SIB invitation, adding that President Jonathan was acting in concert with oil barons to silence the voices of those who are seeking genuine change in the country.
He said Bakare would honour the invitation as soon as he returns from Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Otedola has slammed a N25 billion compensation and an apology demand on Bakare concerning the scathing attack on him.
A letter to that effect was written by Otedola’s counsel, Victor Ogude of Babajide Koku & Co. Chambers.
Otedola’s counsel complained that Bakare portrayed his client as an oil thief and liar and that the report published in newspapers on Monday, 18 June should be retracted in its entirety. In the widely publicised sermon and the outcome of the press conference he held, Bakare insisted that both Otedola and Lawan should be investigated because one of them is a bribe giver and the other a bribe taker.

US Seizes Assets Of Another Thieving Governor

Two months after a London Court jailed Mr. James Ibori, former Governor of Delta State, 13 years for fraud and money laundering, another thieving former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who was jailed two years by a Nigerian court for fraud in 2007, is to forfeit $401,931 and his Maryland, US home worth $600,000 to the United States Government.
Alamieyeseigha
The US Department of Justice yesterday executed a forfeiture order on $401,931 in a Massachusetts brokerage fund traced to Alamieyeseigha.
In a report published by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the forfeiture was the first victory for the US Justice Department initiative dedicated to seeking out assets in the U.S. linked to high-level foreign corruption.
Prosecutors filed court papers in April 2011 targeting a $600,000 Maryland home and a Massachusetts brokerage account belonging to Alamieyeseigha.
According to prosecutors, Alamieyeseigha’s assets were the proceeds of corruption. Alamieyeseigha denied the allegations in court filings.
Earlier this month, a federal district judge in Massachusetts granted a motion for default judgment and civil forfeiture on the brokerage account. Prosecutors executed the forfeiture order Thursday.
“With a declared income of less than $250,000, Mr. Alamieyeseigha accumulated millions of dollars worth of property over a six-year period,” Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer said in a news release. “Today’s announcement, the first forfeiture judgment obtained under our Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative, sends a powerful message about the United States’ commitment to rooting out corruption far and wide.”
Alamieyeseigha was in 2007 sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Federal High Cout in Abuja for failing to declare assets in Nigeria, South Africa and the U.S.
Prosecutors said he bought more than $8 million in properties with bribes he received from contractors while serving as governor.
Alamieyeseigha also pleaded guilty to money laundering on behalf of two companies he controlled, Solomon & Peters Ltd. and Alamieyeseigha and Santolina Investment Corp.
In 2006, the High Court of Justice in London found that three of Alamieyeseigha’s properties there, as well as accounts held by Santolina, represented bribe money or were traceable to bribes Alamieyeseigha took from contractors in Nigeria.
After he was arrested at Heathrow Airport in 2005, police found about $1.6 million in cash in his house.
A lawyer for Alamieyeseigha didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
In civil forfeiture cases, the Justice Department can file complaints in US federal court against property, rather than individuals, linked to foreign corruption. The forfeiture against Alamieyeseigha’s Maryland house is pending in a federal court in Maryland.
The Justice Department didn’t say where the forfeited funds would be directed.
According to the news release, “where appropriate [the Justice Department will] return those proceeds to benefit those harmed.” A Justice Department spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to an inquiry about whether or not the funds would be returned to Nigeria.

Bricklayer Jailed for pension fraud

Justice Musa Sale Shuaibu of the Federal High Court, Yola, Adamawa state,in Nigeria’s North east, has sentenced Papa Haziel, 22, to 12 months imprisonment for fraudulently obtaining the sum of N1.2million from Military Pension Board under false pretence.
Haziel was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial crimes Commission, EFCC. Haziel, who was arraigned on a two count charge, was sentenced without an option of fine.
The sentence is however to run consecutively.
The accused, who is a bricklayer, was alleged to have claimed to be the son of a retired military officer, Mr. Vatau Haziel, and forged documents with which he had been drawing money from the Military Pension.
During a verification exercise, Papa presented Vatau as a retiree.
When the lid was blown and Vatau was interrogated, he confessed that he was being used for the scam, but Papa insisted that his father was sick and behaves abnormally and therefore should not be taken seriously.
The two, Papa and Vatau Haziel, were arrested but later released on bail; Papa was to thereafter claim that his father had died as he presented a document which he claimed was the certificate of cause of death of Mr. Vatau Haziel, this was later discovered to be another forgery.
Prosecution counsel, barrister Abubakar Aliyu, in the course of the trial, tendered the forged death certificate, bank statement and instrument purported to have been used to withdraw money, a letter from Military Pension Board and the reply, EFCC letter to the MD Union bank and the reply as exhibits.
The accused person pleaded guilty when the charges were read to him, blaming the offence on the economic situation of the country, a development which necessitated Justice Shuaibu to convict him as he said it will serve as deterrent to others.
The judge admonished that it is not an excuse to steal to feed a family, saying such is a dangerous act that does not auger well for the developmental process of the country.
Justice Shuaibu observed that the accused person has no evidence of adverse previous record and had shown evidence of repentance, thus the need for a lenient sentence.
He however, warned that if found wanting again after serving his term, he would incur the full wrath of of the law.

Footballer Samuel Eto'o accused of tax evasion in Spain, risks jail term

A Spanish public prosecutor has accused Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o of conspiring to evade 3.5 million euros in taxes owed on income from his image rights when he was playing for Barcelona between 2006-2009.

The former Barca and Inter Milan player, now with Russian Premier League club Anzhi Makhachkala, is accused of four tax offences, each punishable with up to five years in prison and a fine of as much as 21 million euros.

The case presented by the prosecutor on June 15 at a Barcelona court, and which was seen by Reuters on Thursday, asks a judge to open proceedings against the player before the statute of limitations on one of the alleged offences expires on Saturday.

Spain recently launched a drive against tax evasion as it struggles to meet tough European deficit reduction targets that have meant budget cuts for hospitals and schools.

Eto'o allegedly created two companies, one in Hungary and another in Spain, and used them to channel income obtained from ceding his image rights to Barca and sportswear maker Puma, the prosecutor said.
The Hungarian company paid one of the lowest corporate tax rates in Europe - 10 percent to 19 percent - while the Spanish company paid a reduced corporate tax rate of 30 percent to 35 percent, instead of the 45 percent income tax rate, the charge said.

Eto'o also allegedly used the Spanish company to deduct personal expenses, such as payments for his mortgages, furniture and expenses related to his luxury cars, the complaint added.

Eto'o and his club could not immediately be reached for comment. The prosecutor also accused Eto'o's former agent, Jose Maria Mesalles, and the manager of the Spanish company, Manuel de Jesus Lastre, of the same tax offences.

Eto'o filed a lawsuit against Mesalles at a Barcelona court last year, accusing him of betraying his trust and of embezzling money, local media said.

Eto'o and his club are yet to respond to the allegations.

DJ Tee alleged assault: My side of the story - Alvin Osungade

A mail I got from the the upcoming act who claimed he was stabbed by top video director, DJ Tee, at a video shoot yesterday. This is his own side of the story...(heard the police is now involved)
My name is Tolani Alvin Osungade, and this is what really happened between Dj Tee and I...... Firstly, the video shoot was suppose to start @ 10am and I was there to support my friend "malcoholic" the owner of the video shoot. He (malcoholic) told to me invite friends (video girls and guys) which I did. The video shoot did not start early because it rained and the location was being cleaned. And due to the fact that the shoot didn't start on time, people were having refreshments, guys were drinking (including dj tee and his crew). As this was going on, comments were going round that dj tee just insulted some girls I don't know due to them asking for payment to be in the video and i also heard dj tee was going to call his own people to come and replace them.

Finally, my friends came by 5:30pm, and when they came and saw the set up they made their thoughts known to me that they don't do videos for free but they were being insulted by some guys I don't know myself but there was no fight and I did my best to calm them down and they decided to stay. My brother (Dolapo) came by 6pm with his friend, and Dolapo immediately made it clear to me that he didnt like the set up (the environment) as well and was going to leave in a bit. But I told him to stay just to support Malcoholic and he said "the only reason he's staying was because of me", and my invited friends also said the same thing because they were all tired of waiting and the video shoot had still not started since 1pm. Finally, the shoot started @ 7:30 and dj tee started calling people to come on set but there was little response due to people being tired from waiting all day then Dj started getting aggressive, his voice was getting louder, I was actually part of the first 5 to go on set and my brother (Dolapo) came along with me without his friend making us 6, few mins later, almost everybody joined. Some minutes later, I saw dolapo's friend walking away and I asked her where she was going and she only pointed at dj tee and she said he just insulted her and she was leaving, while this was going on, dj tee was lashing out at the people that were not on set yet, in his words "get these bitches out, get these bitches downstairs", Dolapo's friend was leaving the set then dj tee asked her what was wrong?

Sincerely speaking, I didn't hear her response but dj tee was speaking loud so I heard him say "bitch" and people went there to find out what the problem was. I didnt go with them because I was still on set and Kaffy (the dancer) was already coordinating us but I was looking towards that direction. Then I started hearing noise like a fight was going on and people were saying "dj tee leave him" and I also heard "Dolapo go" then I knew it was dj tee and my brother , then I went there. On getting there, the stairs was blocked and I could not see him and just wanted to get there to be sure he was ok and get him out because dj tee was saying "awon eruku mi da" in english "where are my thugs" "don't let him go, he must not leave this place alive" because he claimed dolapo slapped him so he was saying "do you know who I am, how dare you" and he kept on ranting "I'll kill you" "don't let him go, he must not leave here alive" while dj tee was trying to get to him in person. My sister was begging him and telling him "dj tee, he's my brother, please leave him" and to get his attention, she threw an empty fanta can drink at dj tee then he and his boys looked but paid her no attention.

I struggled my way out finally and I saw Dolapo practically running out and dj tee was chasing him and he instructed them to lock the gate and he then said to his boys "efo igo nibeyen, gbogbo igo ti eba ri, efo, ki e gun" in english "break bottles, find him and stab him" and his boys did as instructed and asked for permission to kill him (Dolapo) and dj tee said "yes, stab him". Dj tee found him, tried to beat him but he was being held back, then he saw a bottle on the floor, picked up and broke it, dolapo's female friend saw this and she went to plead with him and he pushed her into a gutter and looked away and was trying to go back to Dolapo with the broken bottle then I started pleading with him and he was shooting me dirty looks and he was saying "ti iwo oba kuro ni waju mi, ma te oju e mole" in english (get out of my way before I hurt you) .Still trying attack Dolapo, I still pleaded with him, then he stabbed my head and just walked away like it was nothing. Soaked in blood, I was still looking for Dolapo but didnt know he had been informed to run because dj tee had broken a bottle and was still looking for him. My sister saw me bleeding and she tried getting me out of the place with help of mr Dele (owner of d location).

As we we're running out, dj tee and his boys were still coming after us with sticks and bottles and dj tee was still saying "kill him don't let him go". We got to the gate and it was locked so they caught up with us, seeing that I was already bleeding, I was ignored and dj tee and his boys then faced my sister (Bolaji) and beat her up. She was pleading and still getting beaten and threatened added that "if she is asked about the incident, she should say I fell on a bottle"Then the mr Dele (owner of the venue) ordered the gatement to open the gate because I had to be rushed to a hospital then we were let out. Dj tee and his boys vandalized a family friends car who came to support as well because he was also pleading with dj tee and his boys to let Dolapo go. I remember dj tee saying "I will kill you, I can do this and get away with it, you are too small to me, do you know who I am in this industry"...

In addition, I am not looking for cheap publicity neither am i trying to slander anybody's name or image, I am from a very respectable home and background and this is known to all. This is just very painful because people are saying all sorts and nobody has an idea of what i'm going through, I've been scared for life whether Dj Tee gets punished for this crime or not, I am not after a pity party but the fact that Dj Tee thinks that he is untouchable and can get away with this is why my family is enraged and will make sure this ends here, and quoting what i wrote on my twitter page earlier "I've never been aggressive about anything in my life and neither do I cause trouble, @adetokunbodjtee, you took advantage of my youth, justice will be done" I'm deeply disappointed if this is how someone who calls himself a public figure acts or treats the public.

Police accuse Gov Oshiomhole of lying about assasination attempt

The police command in Edo State yesterday debunked allegations by Governor Adams Oshiomhole's camp that his convoy was attacked by suspected assassins on Thursday June 28th.

The Edo State Commissioner for Information had claimed that the governor's motorcade was shot at during his campaign rally on Thursday and accused Edo State PDP of being behind the attack.

Now the police is saying the Governor was ambushed by protesting students and not assassins. Their statement after the cut...

Criminal Act: How Male Lover forces 2 boys to rape girlfriend -Victim dies during abortion

A 15-year-old girl, Rabi Ziki, got pregnant after being raped by two boys. Ironically, the rape was allegedly masterminded by her boyfriend, Maina
Abu (not real name) who commissioned the boys to perform the criminal act in his presence. Abu had accused Rabi of stealing his perfume and cloth. However, few months after the unfortunate incident, Rabi became pregnant and she made up her mind to get rid of the pregnancy. But this resulted in a tragedy, as she lost her life. The incident happened in December 2011.

The deceased and Abu had been dating for quite sometime. On the fateful day, Abu allegedly invited Rabi to his house and locked her inside his room. He also tricked the two boys involved in the saga to his house and ordered them to rape Rabi in his presence.  They had refused to rape her since they knew she was his girlfriend. But Abu threatened them with a broken bottle and vowed to kill them if they refused. He was said to be heavily drunk. He pounced on Rabi and gave her a serious beating. The boys eventually raped her.

Few months after she was raped Rabi became pregnant. As a result of the pregnancy she became worried. How she would explain to her parents that two boys impregnated her. Rather than open up, she was said to have made up her mind and quietly went to a private hospital to get rid of the four-month pregnancy.  Shortly after she aborted the pregnancy, Rabi became critically ill, complaining of headache, body and stomach pains. When the illness grew worse and doctors could not help, Rabi reportedly confessed to her uncle and guardian.

She was later rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, and admitted at the emergency unit. But efforts of doctors at the hospital to save her life proved abortive as she eventually gave up the ghost on Monday, May 28, 2012.  She was admitted on Friday, May 25. Daily Sun gathered that before Rabi breathed her last, she told her guardian everything that happened. She was said to have denied the rumour that she was going out with Abu, though she said Abu made moves to go out with her but she never agreed.

She was said to have told her guardian that Abu called her telephone line on the day of the incident and asked her to wait in front of his house before she was raped. According to her, one of the boys removed her pant before the two raped her one after the other. Rabi added that though Abu did not have sex with her, he made sure that she was raped by the two boys.

One of the boys, a Senior Secondary School student, confessed: “I didn’t know Rabi before the incident. We were with a guy at Sabo, Ibadan when Abu called around 8.00pm and asked us to follow him. He told us he wanted to send us on an errand. He never told us what he wanted to send us.  “He had called Rabi and after he had smoked Indian hemp, he came out and he slapped her twice and asked her to follow him. We followed him with Rabi. She never argued with him, he told Rabi to enter the room with us and he locked the door.”

According to him, Abu brought out a bottle and drank all the content in it and thereafter started beating Rabi. He then broke a bottle and ordered Rabi to remove her cloth. Rabi, according to him was not wearing anything except her Jalaamia and a scarf: “We were forced to have sex with her. Abu is older than us; he should be around 25 years or more. He told us the following day why he did that to us. He said Rabi stole his clothe and perfume and that was why he made sure we raped her.

“With my friend, we went to the girl to ask if she actually stole the perfume, but she said she didn’t. We begged her and she said she had forgiven us. It was later confirmed that one of Abu’s girlfriends who had the key to his room stole the cloth and perfume.”

Rabi’s uncle reported the incident at the Mokola police station. While the two boys were arrested, Abu was nowhere to be found. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olabisi Ilobanafor, said investigation has commenced and that the two boys would soon be charged to court.

The fraud case against Jim Iyke was not thrown out of court - Habiba's camp claim

Dear Linda,

Our notice has been drawn to an article published on your blog and other media and we have been mandated to put the facts straight.

We would like to say categorically that the accused (Mr. Jim Iyke) confessed to all the charges that were brought against him which said charges includes criminal breach of trust, assault, criminal force, cheating, criminal misappropriation and obtaining by tricks etc.

Pursuant to his confession and guilty plea, the accused ( Mr. Jim Iyke) would have been sent to jail but for the magnanimity of the victim, Mrs Abubakar who, after listening to all the pleading from Jim's family that he was their bread winner, decided to temper justice with mercy.

As it was not the interest of the victim to ruin his career nor cause his family unnecessary pain, the moral decision was taking to withdraw the case on the condition that he will refund all the money he fraudulently obtained.

At the instance of our client, the case was only discharged for amicable settlement (and not thrown out) and the accused was not in any way acquitted.

We expect that Mr. Jim Iyke will concentrate on finding ways of fulfilling the debt repayment agreement signed by him rather than the unnecessary show of braggadocio and deliberate misinformation, as the agreement clearly states that should he default on two consecutive installment payments, the case will be re-opened, all waivers suspended, and the law will take its cause.

He remains liable and must desist from bringing the court, the law enforcement officers and all parties involved to disrepute or the full wrath of the law will be brought upon him.

Please find attached evidence and documentation in respect of the above.

Thank you for setting the records straight.

Nigeria’s life expectancy lowest in West Africa – Don

Read and tell us what you think....

Life expectancy in Nigeria is now 47 years, making it the lowest among west African countries, Prof. Abdulsalam Nasidi, Project Director, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has said.
He said this in
Gusau on Thursday at the commencement of the second Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the state’s chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA).
Nasidi who stated this in a paper with the theme “Lead Poisoning: Zamfara Experience” said this position was 30 per cent below the world’s average life expectancy.
He said it was a situation that was attributable to some health factors, including child and maternal mortality, spread of polio virus and other epidemics.
“One out of every five children die before the age of five years due to polio and other infections.
“Nigeria is one of four countries where polio is still an on-going epidemic,” the Project Director said.
Nasidi said in Zamfara alone, acute lead poisoning had killed more than 400 children and caused brain damage in several others in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas.
He described lead poisoning in the area as the “worst-ever recorded outbreak of its kind in modern times.’’
The Project Director said mass lead poisoning and massive cholera epidemics were tragedies of the 19th century.
“This outbreak and our inability to interrupt polio virus transmission are serious indicators of the state of public health service in Nigeria,” he said.
Nasidi said a survey carried out in the affected areas of Zamfara in November 2010 had revealed that more than 85 per cent of the soil had lead contamination.
He said its spread was aggravated through heavy rainfalls.
Nasidi said blood samples of infected persons exceeded the US Environmental Protection Agency rate by three folds while some blood samples were as high as 100,000 parts per million.
He lamented that in spite of response measures through the collaborative efforts of the state and federal governments, including the World Health Organisation (WHO), illegal mining resumed in the area.
The Project Director said this occurred at Dogon Dajin Sarkin Noma village of Adabka ward in Bukkuyum local government area, killing 11 out of every 22 persons since September 2011.
He therefore urged the federal and Zamfara governments to continue to join hands in order to save lives of the people living in the area.
Nasidi suggested that government should consider moving the population from the high risk areas as part of the remediation efforts on the affected areas.
Alhaji Ibrahim Mallaha, the state’s acting governor, while declaring the conference open, had earlier urged the participants to come up with an acceptable framework to tackle environmental degradation in the state.
The acting governor assured of the state government’s readiness to partner with other agencies and foreign bodies in finding lasting solutions to the problems of illegal mining in the area.
The state chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Dr Kabir Sada, commended the state government in ensuring the comfort of medical practitioners in the state.
“This had included the payment of all improved doctors’ salaries and other benefits,’’ he said.
The association gave an award of “Health Friendly Governor” to the state governor in view of his successes in the health sector.

Ex-Governor Ibori’s Girlfriend Released From Prison

Ms Udoamaka Okoronkwo, the mistress of former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, has regained her freedom after serving her jail-term in a United Kingdom Prison.

Udoamaka, who was tried alongside Ibori’s sister, Christine Ibori-Ibie, was found guilty of money laundering and mortgage fraud and was sentenced to five years by Judge Christopher Hardy of a Southwark London Crown Court on June 7, 2010.

The two women were accused and subsequently convicted of handling proceeds of criminal transactions on behalf of Ibori while he was governor of Delta State.

The court however ordered that their sentences be served concurrently and Okoronkwo-Onuigbo has thus completed her term in prison. The ex-convict has since returned to Nigeria and was seen in Abuja recently.

Ibori is presently in a UK prison where he is serving a 13-year jail term.

Court Of Appeals Orders EFCC To Retry Kenny Martins And Three Others For N 7.7Bn Police Equipment Fraud

Kenny Martins
By Wilson Uwujaren Ag. Head, Media & Publicity Unit
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has ordered the retrial of Chief Kenny Martins and three others in respect of the embezzlement of Seven Billion, Seven Hundred and Forty Million Naira (N7,740,000,000.00) belonging to the Police Equipment Fund.
In a well-considered judgment delivered by Justice Regina Nwodo, JCA, Leading two other justices on Thursday June 28, 2012, the appellate court among other issues, held that the four accused persons have a case to answer and that Justice Mohammed Talba of the FCT High Court misdirected himself and was wrong to have discharged the accused persons on a no-case submission.
The Appeal arose from a criminal charge preferred by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Chief Kenny Martins, Ibrahim Dumuje, Yaro Gella and Nigerstalg Limited.
After the trial at the High Court, the accused persons were discharged on a no-case submission. However, dissatisfied with the ruling, the EFCC filed an appeal.
On the issue of bias, on which basis an Abuja Magistrate court and a Federal High Court, Abuja had disqualified prosecution counsel, Festus Keyamo from prosecuting the accused persons, on the grounds that he had written several petitions against the accused persons in the past, the Court of Appeal held that a prosecutor cannot be disqualified from prosecuting a matter based on allegations of bias.
The court ordered that the case file be remitted to the Chief Judge of FCT for reassignment and re-trial of the accused persons.

Otedola Gave Me Money Not Bribe –Farouk Lawan

Details of the testimonies of the suspended Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Monitoring of Subsidy Regime, Mr. Farouk Lawan, showed that he admitted taking “money” and “not a bribe” from oil businessman, Mr. Femi Otedola.

Findings indicated that the panel grilled the former Chairman, House Committee on Education for over fours hours, starting from 1.07pm.
It was gathered that during the investigation, Lawan tried to draw a distinction between money and bribe. He was said to have insisted he took the money with the aim of exposing Otedola.

A source, who was privy to the details of the testimonies, said, “He told the committee that he took money to expose Otedola, as different from a bribe. “In the statement he issued, where he admitted taking the money, he drew the attention of the committee to the fact that he was careful with his choice of words.

“Bribe was not mentioned in the statement, but money. Money he took to expose Otedola,” the source said.

Lawan reportedly tendered text messages and call logs to the panel as evidence that he did not initiate the transaction between Otedola and himself. “From what he tendered, it seemed the transaction was not initiated by him. So, what the committee has decided to do is to confront the other parties to the case with the information Lawan has divulged”, the source, who pleaded anonymity, added.

Asked whether Lawan was in possession of the $620,000, the source said he replied that “a lot more information will be made available as the police and other agencies continu with their investigations. The truth is there.”

The source explained that because of the sensitive nature of the investigation, the committee later reasoned that it was not wise to make the inquiry public. “Lawan has information and documents; he has text messages; he has call logs and other evidence. The committee didn’t want other witnesses to take advantage of a public appearance and work on their own testimonies.

“The committee wants to throw Lawan’s claims on other witnesses to see how they will respond. In that way, some conflicting information may come to the fore. The other witnesses too will be heard in camera and will be accorded the same protection as Lawan”, the source stated.

Lawan was discharged after four hours of meeting with the panel. According to the source, the committee resolved to invite him again if the testimonies of other witnesses punctured his claims “or if there is the need to hear from him again.”
Lawan had appeared before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges on Thursday. The committee, which is investigating the $620,000 bribery allegation, is headed by Mr. Gambo Musa.
